"It is June. Half of this year is gone. Where did the time go? "
This thought pretty much sums up where I am at right now. The other day, my family was at Disney World when I saw a sign advertising the Pirates of the Caribbean movie being in theaters May 2017. I looked at my cousin and said, we should go see that when it comes out.
This was on May 25th. Can I just say, I'm sorry.
Seriously though. This year has been a blur and I often find myself wondering, "has it always been this way?!"
The answer is simply, yes. Each year stays the same, but we are the ones who get "busier". We are the ones who rush through our weeks, our months and our years and unfortunately, it's to no avail. We go to secondary school to get a better job. We work longer hours and sometimes multiple jobs to pay off bills that never GO AWAY. We have sensory overload which keeps us from finding true rest in the simple things....in a simple life. And I want to maintain that rest. But, I will get more into thata little later in this post. First, let me bring you up to speed on the happenings in my life right now!
So, I just wanted to post a little bit about where I am with everything from school, to work to life in between. I finished up my Spring Semester a couple of weeks ago and had a nice little two-week vacation (Woot Woot!).
My family went to Florida for a week and we had a great time just relaxing by the pool most days and then hitting the four Disney parks for two of the days. Our weather couldn't have been more perfect, so that made the days at the parks much less daunting. (last year it was so humid and crowded, that it was miserable). Plus, I was ready for a break from work, because yes, I am still looking for a job....one year later. * I have had some good prospects , but I never quite find the perfect fit... But, that is okay because I know it will come along when the time is right!
My first portion of Summer classes started yesterday and I have two 4-week courses and then two more 8-week courses starting in 3 weeks. So this summer is gonna fly by as well. After that, I only have the Fall semester and I can GRADUATE!!! AHHHHH! I. CANNOT WAIT.
My husband (we just celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary by the way!) is about to go to Israel for 8 days and he is super excited about that! He is going with a ministry called Christ For All Nations and he couldn't be more ecstatic. Eric has always wanted to go to Israel and this sort of just fell into place for him so we splurged and booked him a ticket! Plus, we are thinking of starting a family soon, so there is really no better time than now for him to go :)
I have two little bundles of joy that I get to meet in the next couple of months! I am so excited for my best friend to have her baby girl in July and my sister to have her little one in December! I can't wait to be an Auntie!! I already have so much love for those little blessings...Ah! I just can't wait!
And finally, my new blog is launching! I haven't released the name yet, but be sure to stay tuned or follow me on Instagram (link at bottom of the page) to get the scoop on when it goes live! I am sooooo excited to start this new journey with you all and I pray that it will be an encouragement to you in the months, and hopefully years to come!
I know that wasn't a whole lot to take in, but trust me, it is a lot to be experiencing all at once in real-time haha. When my new blog launches (I will call it a "sister-blog" since I will be keeping this one as well), Id love to have you join me with Devotionals, Collaborations, Prayer Requests and more! I will post the link HERE later so that you can follow along with me if you'd like :) Below is a small excerpt from one of my posts...I hope it encourages you today!
"...I don't know about you, but I want to be able to find rest. I don't want to be so busy chasing material things, that I forget to focus and nourish the eternal ones. So, I am making a pledge to spend at least 30 minutes a day in my Bible and another 30 minutes to an hour in Praise and Worship. I know it may seem like a lot of time to some people and not so much to others, but it is amazing what any amount of time spentwith the Lord can do in your day to day. I can tell you that with me letting the things around me get so hectic, and not spending my usual time in The Word, I have been able to tell a huge difference ( or deficit, really) in my peace and contentment lately. When I have taken just a few minutes to Be Still, I can feel my spirit instantly begin to renew. "
I hope you will all keep me in your prayers throughout the remainder of my school program and in findinga new job. And again, thank you for your patience this past year since I began this journey of Savoring the Simple Life.
